Ventrac Slope Mowing & Regrowth Recuts
Cleared ground grows back, and steep banks don't mow themselves. Our Ventrac is built for slopes, so we can keep honeysuckle regrowth down and hillsides cut on ground a regular mower or brush hog can't safely run.
Clearing is step one. Recuts keep it cleared.
When we mulch out honeysuckle, the brush is gone but the roots are still in the ground. The next growing season you'll see sprouts come up through the mulch. If you leave them, in a couple of years you're back where you started.
The fix is a recut before the regrowth gets woody. For that we bring the Ventrac, a compact all-wheel-drive tractor that articulates in the middle and sits low to the ground. It holds a hillside where a mower or skid steer would slide, it's light on the ground, and it cuts fast. Keep up with it for a season or two and grass starts to win.
- Regrowth recuts on ground we (or anyone) mulched before
- Steep hillsides and banks that are unsafe for a regular mower
- Ditches, slopes and field edges kept cut through the season
- Small jobs welcome we've done one-hour touch-ups
Recent Ventrac and recut work
Real, paid jobs. Towns only, no client names.
Steep property, one visit
A steep property mowed with the Ventrac in a single trip, on ground you couldn't safely put a regular mower on.
Commercial hillside cut back
A big overgrown hillside behind a commercial building, cut back with the Ventrac and our mulchers.
Back the next summer
We cleared this property late last year. This summer the owner had us back to knock down the invasive regrowth before it got a foothold.
Regrowth under control
A two-man crew came back to manage regrowth on honeysuckle that had already been mulched, so the cleared ground stays cleared.
Half a day of Ventrac mowing
Four hours of Ventrac mowing for a site-work contractor we partner with on new development work.
Set up for future recuts
We broke up the ground in previously mulched areas so the owner could have us come back with the Ventrac or plant grass, and kept mulch off the base of every tree like she asked.
What we use the Ventrac for
Honeysuckle regrowth recuts
Follow-up passes after mulching, before sprouts turn back into brush.
Honeysuckle removal →Steep hillside mowing
Banks and slopes that are too steep or too sketchy for a zero-turn or tractor.
Commercial slopes & ditches
Hillsides behind buildings, ditches and slopes on commercial and development sites, for owners and contractors.
Seasonal maintenance
Put the property on a schedule and we'll come back each season to keep it cut.
Field edges & fence rows
Overgrown edges and fence rows cut back. For big open fields, see brush hogging.
Brush hogging & mowing →Grass after clearing
Break up the ground and seed it so turf takes over where the brush used to be.
Land restoration →Why a Ventrac and not a mower
Our Ventrac is a 2024 compact tractor with all-wheel drive and an articulating frame, built low so it stays planted on a hillside. It works slopes a mower or skid steer shouldn't be on, and it's much lighter on the ground than a tracked mulcher. When regrowth has gotten too thick for it, we bring a CAT 299 with a Fecon head instead.
How recuts work with us
Walk it
We look at the regrowth or the slope and tell you what it needs.
Pick a plan
One-time cut, or a seasonal schedule for the property.
We cut it
Ventrac on the slopes, mulcher if the regrowth got woody.
Repeat as needed
Each pass gets easier as grass takes over.

What customers say
"I will recommend this crew to anyone that asks. Great to work with and made quick work of an area that the brush mower didn't stand a chance. Left the area in great shape ready to be replanted. Very impressed."
RJ"Professional and prompt service. Highly recommend for a quality job. Thanks!"
DonWhere we run the Ventrac
We run the Ventrac all over the Cincinnati tristate. Highlighted towns are ones where we've already done recut or Ventrac work.
Ventrac & recut FAQs
Why does honeysuckle grow back after you mulch it?
Mulching takes the brush down, but the roots are still alive. The first growing season or two you'll get sprouts. A recut while they're still soft keeps them from turning back into brush, and over time grass and native plants take over.
How often do I need a recut?
It depends on how thick the honeysuckle was. A lot of properties need a pass or two over the first year or two after clearing, then less as it settles down. We'll tell you honestly what yours needs.
How steep can the Ventrac go?
Much steeper than a regular mower or skid steer can safely go. That's what it's built for. We look at every slope on the walkthrough, and if something isn't safe, we'll say so.
Do I have to have used you for the original clearing?
No. We do recuts on ground anyone cleared, and on hillsides that have never been cleared at all.
Do you mow commercial slopes and ditches?
Yes. We do hillside and slope work for property owners and site-work contractors, including hillsides behind commercial buildings.
What does it cost?
It depends on the acreage, the slope and how much is there. Small touch-ups are fine. We've done one-hour Ventrac jobs. Bigger work is quoted as a hard price or a day rate after a walkthrough.
