Franklin County land

Steep, wooded and overgrown

Franklin County ground around Brookville is steep and wooded, with a lot of property that's gone to brush on the slopes and in the hollows. It's great land once you can get into it.

We clear it with tracked forestry mulchers that handle the hills, grinding the brush and small trees in place and keeping the trees worth keeping. When the job needs a little dirt work after the clearing, we can handle that too, so you're not lining up two different contractors.

  • Hillside clearing with tracked machines built for slopes
  • Multi-acre jobs planned over several days
  • Dirt work after so the ground is ready for what's next
  • Mulch on site which helps hold the soil on the hills

The equipment

Machines that handle Franklin County hills

Steep ground is the norm around Brookville, so we run tracked CAT 299s and a Takeuchi that stay planted on slopes and don't tear up soft ground. If a section is too steep to work safely, we tell you on the walkthrough.

"I will recommend this crew to anyone that asks. Great to work with and made quick work of an area that the brush mower didn't stand a chance. Left the area in great shape ready to be replanted. Very impressed."

Questions

Brookville land clearing FAQs

Can you clear steep ground?

Usually, yes. Our machines are tracked and built for slopes, and the mulch we leave behind helps hold the soil. If a section is too steep to work safely, we'll say so on the walkthrough.

Can you do the dirt work after clearing?

On a lot of jobs, yes. In Brookville we mulched the property first, then came back with the excavator to finish the ground.

Will the honeysuckle grow back?

Some will, because the roots are still in the ground. The best way to keep it from coming back is a follow-up recut the next season, and we can schedule that for you.

Do you haul everything off?

No. Almost everything we cut gets mulched and stays on site. That's a big part of why it costs a lot less than traditional clearing, and the mulch protects the soil while it breaks down.

Will you take my big trees?

Only the ones you want gone. We walk it with you first, and the nice hardwoods stay standing. We'll drop dead and junk trees as part of the job, and anything too big or too close to the house we'll tell you up front.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

It depends on how thick it is, the acreage, the terrain and the finish you want. A lot of residential jobs are done in a day, and bigger acreage runs several days. After a walkthrough you get a written quote, either a hard price or a day rate.
